Can you wear black to a wedding?
I am going to a wedding today; 3pm. The invitation didn’t say what type of attire (formal/semi formal). I haven’t been to a wedding in years. I have very little to wear and no budget to just go out and buy something. I have a skirt and top that is black background with pink flowers on it, it is very girlie looking but not sure it is appropriate for a wedding since it has black in it? Any suggestions?
I also have a blue and brown skirt (light blue/turquoise with brown flowers) and a more casual brown shirt, would this be better.
The groom said it is casual but it is at a church and a restaurant afterward, so this doesn’t seem casual to me? HELP

Bad idea. You will make it a depressing , wear colours or white.
I don’t have colours…WHITE. are you kidding? NEVER EVER wear white to a wedding unless you are the bride. This one I know. She is the only one who should be in white. I think that is very tacky to wear white.
It isn’t all black it is black with pink..
Ok sorry. Sorry I also didnt read the black had pink, that should be fine. I mean I an 14 i have been to some weddings not many but 5
Captain,
Sorry if I came off pissy. You are right that color is better to where. I think I might wear this brown skirt that has blue in it and a brown top, I am just hoping they are nice enough. Anyway, I just wish I could have gone shopping to get something new…being out of work bites. I am sure either way is fine (I worry to much).
Weddings are always very formal so the brown and blue skirt should be fine.
and i agree, never wear white
No problem! :)
black is so much used these days that everyone accepts it with just about anything.
Its now universal.
Neo,
You don’t think weddings count (for what?) Most weddings are pretty formal but some less so. LIke a beach wedding is definetely not formal.

i was talking about that. Sorry i didn’t quote it. Weddings are supposed to be happy and since black in the color or morning i don’t think it should be worn to weddings, even if people do find it universal

I understand what you mean. I partly agree. But because it’s so universal
no one will care. If everyone came in black. Then yes there be a problem.
But very few will.
However that reminds me of cute joke:
There’s going to be this potluck supper.
You’re supposed to bring some wine.
They put it all into this big cask.
And from the cast they serve everyone.
So the husband said to himself no one will notice
if I just bring a bottle of water in a wine bottle.
It turned out that the whole cask was full of water.
So I’m a so I’m wondering if everybody wears black? wooops!
I’m biased I like black. Especially on women.
I like white on men. It’s so out of character.
black does look good on women. when u marry you shoyuld have a reserve wedding!

what is a reserve wedding?
women wears the black and the man wears white… bridemaids wear a twist of white and black.
it is fine to wear black to a wedding.
i have been in a few weddings where black was one of the theme colors.
at my sisters wedding all of the bridesmaids wore white.

What?! lol
To the original poster…I’ve been to some weddings where the color scheme was black. It wasn’t the slightest bit depressing since the gowns were absolutely gorgeous and most had an accent-color sash or something.
Wear what you will feel most comfortable in. You won’t want to feel out of sorts the whole time.
I am going to a beach wedding and was wondering what to wear. My daughter went to one last summer and everyone was wearing white! Can you believe it? This was in Mexico and most were Europeans or Mexicans. This will be North Americans getting married in Mexico so I don’t think the women will be wearing white, anyway I’m not.
