depression help: I’m really in need of some serious help. - Help.com

This post left anonymously

I’m really in need of some serious help.

I’ve missed a week of school for stupid psychological issues. I’m seeing a therapist and my doctor has seemed to put me on all sorts of medications. I just feel nonfunctional. I can’t get my homework done, I feel like I can’t do housework or anything. I’m just so miserably depressed that I just want to sit in front of my computer and do nothing at all.

I just don’t have the motivation. I’ve gained weight and I’m crying every day.

Urghhhh

Force yourself to smile. It’s proven that if you tell yourself that you’re in a good mood, even when you know you aren’t, you can be. I’m not sure how well that works if you’re on meds. Smile smile smile!!

:D

I’m really feeling like I don’t have any close friends right now. My therapist told me I need to go back to school on Monday or things will get even harder… I’m just really nervous about that and I can’t even finish my homework. I can’t miss any more school, I’ve already talked to the guidance counselor or whatever.

Well get a friend over and just watch TV in your room. Have junk food loaded up in the house and your favorite movies or TV series. After a while you will start to talk and a friend always helps.

I don’t feel comfortable really asking anyone over right now… I’m just so anxious and depressed that I don’t know what to do

there is only one way to get over that. Which is better? going to school and having to face everyone at the same time or just a one on one to slowly help you feel better? I know how depression feels but you really just have to let someone in, let them understand the things going through your mind. All you have to do is IM someone, its as simple as that.

If you know that your problems are psychological, then your solution is as well. You need to get youself in a frame of mind that includes confidence and perseverence. Set daily goals for yourself, and determine your long-term dreams. What is it you ahve always wanted to accomplish? Determine your dreams and set small, achievable daily goals that take you one step closer to your dream. Keep a record of your progress and remind yourself every single day that you are getting closer and closer to your fulfilling your dreams. Come on. Get up and get yourself together dammit! Get strong and get moving! Do not accept depression or failure. You can and will do amazing things if you just get off you *** and do it. Believe me. You Can Do It. You can and I know it. Possibilities are limitless and all it takes is dedication, motivation, and Hard Work. It won’t be easy but you have inside of you. Do it now.

Try spending some time in nature, the mountains or beach or forest. If those things are too far, buy a bunch of flowers or plants for your room. Nature renews and refreshes.

Hope this helps.

Resolve that before you go to bed tonight, you will get up and tell “depression” and all of that to go to hell. Like others said, set goals for yourself, and for Pete’s sake, quit sitting on your duff because you don’t “feel” like doing anything. That’s the problem–waiting for the right “feeling” to come along. Sometimes it never does–you just have to do what you have to do. Do what has to be done, and then plan a reward for yourself! Don’t expect to feel super motivated about drudgery or tedious schoolwork. Just DO it! Sit down and DO it! You want to know something? People who do NOTHING are the most TIRED!

Make sure you don’t “give in” to your feelings! You can control how you feel!
