okay guys, this is another xeno and snow info post.

Alright, so I’m back home. It pains me to even call this place home. This town will always be the place I grew up, but I belong somewhere else now. I went to Arizona 4 years ago for an extended period of time. I instantly felt that Arizona was the place where I belonged. I was curious to see if my intuition would once again start a fire in me with this most recent trip. It absolutely did the same thing, only with much strong conviction.

As you all know from previous posts, I now have even greater reason to get out there. My time with Xeno was the best 9 days I’ve ever had in life…so far. I want to go home, my real home, and I need a little advice to get there.

Other than moving in and out of dorms (like 238413984 times), I don’t have any moving experience, let alone moving across the country. I don’t have many things that i need to take. just a bed, dresser and some clothes and stuff. I was thinking about getting one of those pod things, but as it turns out there are a lot of different types. I also have a car that I need to get out there. It’s old and there’s no way i could drive it across the country, plus with the price of gas that definitely isn’t an option. I’m starting to think i should sell it and use the money to get another used (cheap) car out there.

I really need advice on this. i want to get out there asap. After working so hard throughout school, and practically killing myself to get through 4 years of college with a bio degree, I am SO ready to start my own life, to get established, and to follow my heart. Please give me any advice you have, or even if you know someone who has done something similar, please ask them for pointers. Thank you all so much for your support.

Why just don’t you sell everything. that way there is no baggage. take the money and get a fresh start.

I agree with Franat. Unless you have something of immense value, pack all that you cannot part with into suitcases to take on the plane, the rest into boxes to send snail mail, pay the plane to transport, or send UPS. Then have a yard sale for the rest of your belongings, bank the money and go.

However, if you are really attached to a lot of your stuff, then you can sell your car, rent a U-haul for cheap, and drive it.

One packing tip– use clothes, towels and other stuff to wrap breakables– this saves space and saves on extra weight of paper and other packing goods.

One point, though… have you thought of interviewing for jobs before you make your final move? If you could land a good position, the beneifts often include moving expenses— or you can make that part of the negotiations on salary, since it is a one time expense.

You still want to move?

Well if you have a car, rent a uhaul and pack up whatever stuff you do have and start driving. I mean selling your stuff for the money is good, but that money will probably go back into buying new stuff which youll still need. lol
