I am trying to make a video on my Mac.

I am taking a video from the internet and trying to import it into my iMovie app. But whenever I try to import it, it says that QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048. Any idea what this means or what I can/should do?

You may be trying to import a video file type that’s not supported by iMovie. I don’t think it accepts flash videos for example.

What type of file is it? A .mov? A .flv?

A -2048 means that Quicktime doesn’t understand it and you’ll need to have the file in another format.

It should. You might do a search for a video file conversion program. Cleaner is good but it isn’t free. If the CD has it as an .wmv you may have the same problem. Hopefully it will be a .mov.

Yeah, you won’t be able to edit .flv videos with iMovie. It’s not built for that. Make sure the file is a Quicktime .mov on the CD. You’ll have problems importing .avi files and .wmv files will not work either.
