Appreciate the Small Things

Here is something I read a while back and thought that it would be nice to share with everyone (I hope it hasn’t already been posted - if it has; I’m sorry)

One day… a wealthy man took his son on a trip to the countryside so he could show his son how poor country people live.

They stayed one day and one night in the home of a very humble farmer and at the end of the trip when they were back home, the father asked his son, “What did you think of the trip?”

The son replied, “Very nice, Dad”

Then the father asked his son, “Did you notice how poor they were?” The son replied “Yes”

The father continued to say, “What did you learn?”

The son responded “I learned that we have one dog in our house and they have four. We have a fountain in our garden and they have a stream. We have imported lamps in our garden when they have stars. Finally, our garden goes to the edge of our property, while they have the horizon as their backyard.”

The father remained speachless while the son said “Thank you Dad, for showing me how poor we really are”.

We all have our problems and for a lot of us, these problems are really serious and VERY difficult to handle. However, if we are ever feeling down we just need to stand back and look at the really good things in life. It is these good things that give us the power to keep fighting against the serious problems that we have.

I hope you liked this post and that you all have a nice day :)

That was lovely elysium. Yesterday we had a huge thunderstorm. Quarter-sized hail came down, battering my poor flowers. This morning the sun is out, the air is sweet, the plants are loving life and the birds are singing. When we’re in the midst of the storm, with the thunder booming and the wind whipping, it’s easy to think it’s the end. Life goes on. It’s the small things that show it.

I love to be reminded of our wonderful world and how rich we all are because of it. Problems are not solved by looking at the horizon, but sometimes we can see where our future is going if we seek to find it for ourselves. thank you elsyium.

Thank you sansceriph. Sorry about your flowers. I was helping my Nan with her garden a few days ago and the hot weather had dried up all the soil and flowers. But it eventually rained a bit and they were soon looking good like they were supposed to.

Nice comment btw. :)

I agree there Patric1. I guess if you look around and see all of the fighting and violence that is going on around, it is hard to see the good things. But if you look hard you can.

Thank you to everyone who has read it so far.

lol. I just changed the tags, clicked save and it did nothing. So I clicked it once more and then that happened. People are going to be wondering what on earth I was doing. Oh well never mind. I will be laughing about this in a few days time.

So true, the best gifts in life are free, and the perspective we choose is one of the most important.
