I need money to go to school overseas before next year.

I am a fifteen year old girl from New Zealand. I do very well academically. I learnt to speak German fluently in less than two years and an now learning French and Maori. However I am bored, my school offers no further opportunities, classes are so systematic and I feel that I have no room to grow. I have decided and am determined to go overseas next year. For six months to Germany, for five months to France and for one month to India, where some family friends are helping the community. I really need to go, but all the official organisations I can find aren’t flexible enough. Therefore I can’t get a scholarship through them. I am too young and too busy to get well paying part time work and I am almost slipping into despair. I know I need to go, because I will get so much out of it and now is the ideal time. But really, what should I do about money?

The only way to get money is to work.. too busy? how can you be too busy if you have time to be bored? give up some free time. Go babysitting, do a paper round, do what you have to.

The world is not going to give you anything on a plate - you have to work for it. Harsh fact of life I’m afraid.

I notice you didn’t reply to this post and haven’t closed it yet like the other one, so maybe you’ll read this one here.
I’m afraid I am inclined to agree with Mas. Read my posts and you’ll see I’m no stranger to the “i want” syndrome that currently seems to plague the youth of today! You are sixteen with a whole life ahead of you. You have ample time to work towards your dream. Why do you feel you have to fulfil all your dreams right now? More to the point, why do think that anyone else, be they a sponsorship agency, a parent or whatever is somehow obligated to help you achieve that dream? At sixteen you are old enough to leave school. If your parents deem you old enough to travel the world, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from travelling to work or studying at a more “challenging” school for your final two years. At eighteen you could then do as many New Zealand students do and go on a gap year exchange travelling and working. Why the rush?

Basically, you want.. you work. That’s life.

When you say you learned fluent german in just two years.. just how fluent is fluent? If you are that academically gifted, why not consider applying for a gifted and talented scholarship to a better college ? Perhaps a private one? They are very supportive of students with real talent wanting to further their education and have exchange programmes.

why am I getting the feeling that what you actually want people to say is “aaw hun, i’ll send you the money”? Maybe its because here there are at least two replies with practical suggestions for you and you haven’t bothered to reply? You set up another almost identical post though which suggests these aren’t the kind of answers you want. Academically gifted maybe but completely devoid of good manners.

hi mumstheword…

im new here and re the young nz girl i think u absolutely right. Im from Bali, Indonesia and my dream is to go all over the world. I would love to get job to other country but its very hard for an indonesian to go overseas. They assume all indonesian is a terrorist but that is not true. I think we cant judge a nation by some not responsible people so the effect of this issue is a really complicated to get an overseas job for us. If i could get some help (any ways) to get an overseas job then i would really appreciated it.
Thanks alot
