Don’t think about it!
That’s the one thing I have to remember when I write.
If I think too hard, I won’t be able to write anything. Either an idea won’t come to mind or everything I write turns out to be… well… not good.
Do you have to write for a class or something, or do you just want to write right now?
lol.
My sister’s the same way.
I don’t even have the concentration for a 2 page essay.
But for me, when I write poetry, the best poems I wrote came to me when I wasn’t even thinking about writing.
Try watching a movie. That or anime always seem to work for me.
I think that’s really awesome that you wrote a novel at such a young age. I wish I was able to put my ideas onto paper when I was that young, unfortunately right now at 17, I’m finding a lot of trouble writing a novel without scrapping it before I’m able to finish it.
Haha, I guess I feel old now because I’ll be a senior next year.
To all you writers here, especially you lela rose, wow!
I am almost 50. Been writing since 1968. Have suffered writer’s block MANY times. But I wonder if that’s what’s happening to you, lela rose.
You see, writer’s block usually means that you can’t write when you MUST, when you really HAVE TO. Do you have to write right now?
A writer doesn’t write because it must be done but because it is done. Writing, as you have no doubt noticed, just comes to you. When inspiration hits you, you write.
I wrote a novel 16 years ago. Since then my writing has consisted of short stories, screenplays and other stuff. But when I sit down to write another novel, I usually write two or three chapters and scrap the whole thing. There are at least four or five unfinished novels in my computers. Inspiration just has not been there for them.
So relax, lela rose, relax and realize that your inspiration may not be here right now. I wouldn’t go so far as to call that writer’s block.
However, let’s just say it is, then it is possible that NOTHING that works for other writers will work for you. We are all different, extremely different, and react in different ways. What is true is this: it will pass if you don’t force it to pass. And I would love to share some of my writings with you and get your opinion on them, especially on a short story. And I would love to read your writing and enjoy them. What do you say? If so, my email is i> small>(email removed) /small> /i>.
Alas there is no quick-fix cure for this. All you have to do is trudge through it, really.

Don’t talk about old. I’m twenty-two and all my friends are married and two of the couples have kids and I’m about to graduate from university and go on to Master’s studies and the real world. And I’m still just a kid.
Also, don’t scrap your work. Keep scratching away at it slowly. Just write it down. Don’t worry about it, don’t think about it, don’t let yourself give up on it, just write it.

Every writer has writers block, I would say it’s the way of a writer. It will come back though. I love to write and it gets very frustrating when I can’t write. When this happens I am always sure to have a small note pad and pen by my side, in my pocket at work on the night stand and in my car. This way all my thoughts go to paper. I usually a story/poem can be made out of these thoughts alone. Don’t get give up.
