How long has it been? Do you know what country he’s in?

If you have no e-mail address for him, or if he has not been responding to e-mail, can you reach any of his friends or relatives?

The alternative would be to check with the consulates of your country in whatever countries he might be visiting.

Was he planning to do anything dangerous–either politically (leading protests, etc.) or physically (climbing mountains, exploring jungles)?

If you are really concerned, the state department of your country might be able to trace him through his passports and visas.

P.S. A month is not THAT long. Unless he was about to embark on something really perilous, or unless he missed a specific commitment to contact you, you might want to try to stay calm for awhile.
