friends help: How could she have done that to me? - Help.com

How could she have done that to me?

I went on an outing with my friends and my boyfriend after school. After my BF left, my best friend and her BF went to her house with me. We decided that her dad would drop us off at Target, and then we’d walk back. (It’s only a three minute walk), and we live very close to Target, too). Well, we were at Target, ready to walk back, and there comes my paranoid mom, who completely and totally embarasses me by yelling, “NO. YOU CAN NOT WALK HOME! YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THAT ANNA.” So she quickly stormed out with us, drove me, my friend, and her BF to my best friend’s house, and then dropped us off there and picked me up two hours later. now she’s silly mad, won’t talk to me, and my friends feel terrible. My mom completely yelled at us for it, and she blamed my friends for it, too. my poor friends, I felt so bad and embarassed I almost cried. D: What’s wrong with her? I know it’s only for my safety, but I’ve got a couple other people with me, in a good neighborhood! Now my mom has a bit of a paranoid reputation, but this is as far as it goes! I’ve never seen her this mad. My friends now think of my mom as mean, and her boyfriend kept saying, “I’m sorry, I”m sorry.”
All i can do is sob here at the computer. :/

Im sorry to here that, but like you said she was doing it in your best interests. A lot of parents are over-protective of their children. Maybe she took it to far, but at least she cares for you.

Ah that sucks. But try not to be too mad at her. I mean can you blame her for being over-protective when there’s reports of abductions and all sorts like that in the media everyday. Don’t be angry with her, like i said try to reason with her and explain your points well and calmly and maybe she will understand? Well i hope things get better for you…

My mum is just the same! But you do have to remember she is just doing it in your best interests. i know its frustrating but you could think of a way to show her she can trust you and maybe she will start talking to you again and let you do more things on your own with your mates.

My mother is like that too…So are my grandparents, I find it’s best just to agree with them and get it over with.
