Does anyone know how fit / good do you have to be to join a ladies hockey team?

And what it’s like ?

I haven’t played since school (and didn’t play that great then - though i liked it!) but NEED to get fit

There is an ad in the local paper and i don’t know enough about womens hockey teams to want to apply yet….

Often the leagues are set up to be a learning experience while still being competitive. Most women’s leagues are 18+.

As far as how to get in shape for hockey, try riding your bike and using the stairs. Weightlifting can also be helpful.

Not really no. I am still working on getting fit. By riding my bike and using the stairs. A lot of people suggest weightlifting to work on your slapshot but I personally don’t do it.

We have practice once a week and I practice at home in my driveway (wearing shoes) whenever I can.

i’m a bit nervous to be honest I NEVER stick at things I start and figured that a team sport would mean that I feel an obligation to go..! I’m also a bit of a social phobe and do solitary things like surfing and cycling - could do with breaking old habits…..

no, I think what I’ll do (provided they invite me to try it out!) is go out in shorts and trainers the first time and if it looks like I’m gonna go again I’ll invest … :-)
