I personally like Dragonball way better because it had an actual story and plot to it, with adventure, comedy, fighting, and characters developing skill. It was an amazingly fun journey. Dragonball Z, however (although very entertaining) ends up becoming a hair styling contest “who has the coolest hair?!” and constantly staring the opponent down and powering up for fifteen minutes straight, and going to the next level and then when the enemy blasts the protagonist, after the smoke disappears, the protagonist is fine. Basically, DBZ totally gets rid of the adventure+comedy aspect of Dragonball and focuses on improving muscle and hair and the ability to tolerate staring at your enemy for a looong time. Not to mention, dragonball z totally discarded important characters from dragonball and made them side characters just so the viewers can focus more on “epic awesome spikey haired saiyans”. Garsh, writing about this makes me so annoyed and rambling. I liked DBZ, but it just upsets me how they totally discarded everyhting about dragonball. Dragonball was never really even about powering up over and over again. It never was about hair. Yeah, it had to do with increasing strength, but the characters did it through adventure and training and searching for dragonballs. Dragonball Z barely even FOCUSED on searching for dragonballs. X_X
