Ok, whats the best way to go about this?
I really want an Xbox 360, i already have a ps3 and i probably sound really spoiled and whatnot, but oh well. i need to know whats the best Xbox 360 for my needs, i dont really want it for a bunch of online gameplay, but i plan on using it for things like halo 3, mass effect, and gears of war. also, whats the best way to go about aquiring it? my birthday is in july, also making it the day i can begin work. I figured id ask for it for my birthday and pay for half of it by september.

ok then, other than selling the ps3 how should i go about acquiring it?
LOTTERY!
well, i really dont want to do that either. i have a couple i could sell and get for the 360, but that leaves the following problem of how do i get the 360 AND buy the game back?
you could sell the computer, buy the 360 with the money, and use the ps3 to talk to us here :p
E-BAY!!!! just buy it all separate, the games and the 360 all of it separate.

whoo!
This might not help get the xbox, but it will help you have games to play and can be cheaper than buying them depending on your habits. It might keep you playing while you have sold off what you don’t like of your library to. There is always Gamefly and Blockbuster Game Pass. They are monthly subscription, and require a credit card but $20 odd bucks a month to your parents from your work money would get you whatever game you want to play until you get bored, beat it, or just want to try something else. Of course that is only if the folks can do it. I’d hope they can — I think most parents that can afford game consoles for their kids should be able to swing it. Sounds like you know for sure a few games you want to thou, so that money might be better used to be saved for those games first. Oh, and telling everyone to pool in for one big present is a great idea. Just make sure to tell them all early, so they can get to together and make it happen in time.\

i tried that last night, and the response i got was “when you get half and give it to me, THEN ill go get the 360″. i usually receive some 100 odd bucks for my birthday. now all i need is anoth 150 -_-
I’ve got an Xbox 360. It’s great. Not being helpful, just boasting!
(seriously though, have you tried maybe talking things through, offering to sign some sorta contract with your folks to persuade em you’re serious?)
