Love help: I just graduated from High School, now what? - Help.com

I just graduated from High School, now what?

I’m an artist but I can’t seem to find a path that would suit me, all I know is that I love to paint, draw and sculpt.

Can anyone help me find my proper career path?

I don’t think art is a trade where I live..

It’s scary, college is expensive, and it’s especially scary when you don’t know what you’ll be doing on the other end.

My family has always had a hard time with money, and it’s been my goal for a long time to just stay stable, can I do that as an artist? or an art teacher? (which i like the idea of, thanks mills)

yeah if you have any particular schools you’re interested in attending then definitely try to apply and talk to a counselor there and they’ll point you in the right direction.

yeah, check out art scholarships and follow through with them. you can go into book illustrations or be a graphic designer as for careers in the business world. you can also try for a career as an art teacher. there’s also art therapy. or you might just to hell with it and go for a career as a professional artist. an art degree will help you with that.

Hey Lucille,

You know there is an accredited online college University Maryland University College. You could major in Humanities and minor in whatever you choose online. (http://www.umuc.edu/prog/ugp/mjr_chart_online.shtml) You could also complete their application (you will be accepted because you graduated from high school…no need for act or sat scores) pay for the application fee and then, go to fafsa online fill out the financial aid application free and go to school. Who knows then you could teach for five years to have your loans forgiven. -Just an idea…However mills is very correct major in art, teaching is the way…and if not for you in the long run at least it helped set you up! -Larry
