Backpacking

Im thinking of backpaking around the country this summer after schools done, anyone got any tips or suggestions? Or any stories, also anyone ever hop any trains?

becarefull about hoping a train it is verry dangers if you dont know what you are doing and plus if you get caught you can now face federal charges under the new act of home security act.

If you can, take a friend, just to be safe. In fact, be REALLY careful.
hmm… i’ve never done it :P but I’d say, see if you can find anyone in your area who’s ever done anything like that, and ask them for help too…

Get yourself a decent pair of shoes and a decent mid-sized backpack. Pack light. Eliminate anything unnecessary. The only exception is a pair of Tevas and a small daypack with a hydration bladder. If you plan to sleep outside, invest in a Thermarest, an ultralight sleeping bag, and a bivy sack (no tent necessary). Get a Lonely Planet book that lists the hostels. Pull out only the pages you will need and staple them together. No need to bring the entire book. Bring a small journal and write in it daily. Consider backpacking through Europe. Get yourself a a href=”http://www.eurail.com/”>EuroRail Pass /a>.
