If he is not panting and you say his heart rate is normal just keep an eye on him tonight, make sure he has plenty of water t drink if he wants it and I would suggest not giving him any food tonight as he has been sick.
How old is he?
Was there anything in the sick? (gross I know) but if it was just bile then maybe he is over hungry but if it was grass then that would mean he has an upset tummy, cats and dogs will eat grass to be sick if they are feeling off.

If he is still like this in the morning or you are stil worried then take him to the vets and get him checked over.

How long after he ate did he throw up?
Is it the normal brand of food he eats?
Was it the normal flavour?
Was it stored in the normal place?
How long had it been there?
And also how long had it been down for him before he ate it?

Sometimes it is just a simle case of ruling out things, he may have eaten to fast or too much.

he threw up about 2 1/2-3 hrs after he ate and he ate straight away. All other things were as usual.

Sounds like he should be alright, as I said, keep an eye on him and if he is still the same in the morning then take him to the vets, my guess is he will perk up again soon, animals are like that and sometimes you never will know why they got ill.

Thanks heaps for your help, he seems to be a little better already. It’ll just have to be a case of wait & see (till the morning at least). Thanks again
