computer help: So… I imported some new music to my Ipod nano, when I turned it on ALL of my songs were gone. - Help.com

So…

I imported some new music to my Ipod nano, when I turned it on ALL of my songs were gone. Now when I plug my Ipod into my computer it doesn’t even pick it up. I just downloaded the latest itunes. Still nothing. I restarted my computer and that also did nothing. Any help???

No they are still in my itunes library. But like I said my computer still won’t even read my Ipod. It tries charging it even though the battery is full.

this should not be too hard, one way or another, the music is still on your itunes and that is what will keep this in my knowledge and make it easy to fix

ok, I want you to unplug the ipod from the computer.
go to the main menu on the ipod. the grey bar on the top should say “ipod” then go to settings, reset all settings, reset. then try to plug it back in after it goes through set up again and tell me what happens

Alright I will try this, although I am very sad that I have to start all over.
I already deleted all of my music off of limewire because it was slowing it down…

If you are talking about the main screen it won’t let me get onto that since my ipod isn’t working. And if it does I don’t know how to get there. The only things I can go into are “file, edit, controls, view, store, help” I know i prolly seem like a pain but I really appreciate any help. Thanks.

Ok so… I was thinking that you meant to reset the settings on itunes. I did it on my ipod and still nothing.

ok first
even tho you are running the ipod in the windows version the ipod is still apple and does not get viruses

next the ipod not regsturing on the computer is not the ipod fault it is the computers fault i think you should update itunes and then when you do that plug in your ipod if it does not show then look it “my computer” if it shows there then we have some options if not then you have to reset your ipod and for that you will have to go to the diagnostics menu
and to do that you have to press and hold the menu and the ok or center button and hold till the ipod shuts off

then right as soon as it is off then press and hold the right and center button until you get a screen with a whole bunch of words

if you have a newer ipod then it will look like this

NTF
Memory
IO
Power
Accessories Test
SysCfg
Reset

then hit reset and you will be new again (hopefully)

then once you are done with that turn on the ipod and connect it to the computer and see if it shows then

then about the missing music if they show on the computer and not the ipod and the ipod registures on the computer then you can try and going to the ipod in my comuter and opening that then showing hidden folders and in ipod controls go to music and right click properties and then at the bottom hit hidden and make sure there is no check and then it will ask if you want to apply to sub folders and files do whatever it says to make is a yes
