Just because they put crap like that on tv doesn’t mean thats what most people care about, I remembered you were there, along with all the other troops.
The thing is is that i just watched a new friend die in my arms and many other soldiers pass away, and it doesnt even show on the news or anything

They put that (email removed) up there because people watch it to take their minds off of the important stuff they worry about all day. We’d all go insane if we worried 24/7 about stuff we have no control over whatsoever.

Honestly im not doing fine at all. i feel all different types of emotions and the things i see really affect me.im a very emotional person and the army is makeing me like a vegetable. im beggining to lost all feelings and carenss that i had. i have smiled in weeks. like i said i just want to go home and get my regular life back
a person isnt supposed to feel happy and all that **** when the enemy gunfire stops possible because of you.
Oh dear. It is awesome that you are there for you mission. Though it saddens me that you are not feeling so right. In the army or any field such as that, people could not get in touch with their emotions. They are taught to be as numb as a steel.

i arrived in iraq about a month ago…i wont be home anytime soon

theres a councelor here but hes theres really no time to go see him…and ive heard hes as crazy as they come

thanks everyone. yes it was my own choice but i did it for everyone. i cannot get a discharge because i took a mental test prior to being deployed.
Don’t take it personal you haven’t gotten letters. They may just be completely lost what to say. Or, the letters may simply not be making it.
Send them emails and tell them you love them. I’m sure it will mean a lot, even if they don’t get them in time to reply.
Or i can write you a letter! well i am not a family. But i can if you want me! :) I write letters to Ames and Molotok a lot! :)

I was medically discharged for depression/social anxiety. Sort of a “Failure to Adapt”. Discharged after 10 months. One on one time with my CO made it possible.
how did you go about being discharged
i dont just want to go home, i feel like i need to go home before i lose myself…but than again i feel like i wasnt loyal to my brothers who are staying and to all of you for backing out of being your protector

I cant believe what this country is doing to the people who are fighting for us. Im sorry but im just so upset right now, seriously. Please inform him of how to get discharged because he needs to get out of there and come home to his family… Wont dont have the right to judge you so dont even let that thought cross your mind. Maybe you can get discharged and help your fellow brothers get out as well. 1:17 AM Eastern time

I actually went AWOL during a training exercise in the Hawaiian jungle, but claimed that I got lost (which was believable because I was sent off alone at sunset). 2 days later I returned to base, and was riding in the back of a truck with my CO, heading back to the training site, when we had a one-on-one discussion. He said if I wanted out, he could make it possible.
ive made some real friends over here, people that literally saved my life. i want to go home so bad because im worried i will lose myself or something but if i go home i will constantly be worried about my friends over here and that im a coward and abonded them. i have so many different feelings and i dont know how to deal with them. i talked to a soldier that was on his second deployment and it was his choice because he couldnt deal with the normal life anymore. i remember his exact words “the army trains you how to kill, but doesnt train you how to return home to the normality of life”…i have no idea how to deal with all these different emotions.
Dear God may he bring you all peace and joy. I understand where you are coming from and unfortunately you are right coming home is not going to solve any of your problems only that your life wont be in danger any more. Im sorry and i wish things could be different
If and when you go home your friends would be left out but they are soldiers, they know the army is not for everyone. You have your own mission in your private life. Your own happiness and that is most important.
It is not being selfish. It is an act of bravery.
i dont feel brave anymore. im constantly worried and physically sick just waiting for that sniper or bomb to hit me..i dont know what to do

I agree with you that we don’t treat our service men and woman the way they should be treated. A friend of mine just sent her 17 year old son off to boot camp. I have two good friends with sons in the military. I think joining the military is very noble and I am so appreicative of Theirishlad’s service and I am sorry our presisdent sent him off to fight a war that was not necessary, but I worry for those who will be left behind if he decides to leave. The Irishlad did make a committment that he should try to stick to. Honey you need to try and stay for your fellow soldiers. If you get to a point you can’t handle it, you need to talk to who ever is in charge of you. You are a hero!
Bravery is overcoming your fear to do something that you feel is worthwhile.
I wish I could tell you how proud I am of you, that you are risking your life for what you believe in…

Yeah, for the record, I deeply regret not fulfilling my term/duty very much, nearly 5 years later.

i think your right..i am willing to risk my life and sanity and whatever else for my brothers because i know they will do the same for me. and aside all that i made a promise to all of you to do my best and whatever i can to keep you safe from harm. everyime i talk to people on here im filled with confidence…which sucks because i can only come on once a month..its just hard to actually look someone in the face seconds before they are no longer with us….they have families and friends and everything just like i do

Instead of focusing in the bad, can you tell us something positive about your military experience. Maybe tells us about your fellow soldiers who you share you time with and with whom you also risk your life with. Tell us what makes them so great!
well ive made alot of friends, but a different kind of friends. id take a bullet for them and i know they would do the same for me. we have each others back. ive made strong relationships over here. i also appreciate life and the freedom that we americans have.

I don’t trust war.. the iraq war is the most unfair , the american government disguise his real stakes behind a false “generosity”. Soldiers are not there to bring peace but only to keep watch over the “black gold” , the are scared to lose their advantages , they can’t do without it.

I dont believe in the war either and i was one of the people against it. But i looked past that because this man needed to feel loved and cared about. Not scolded and ridiculed. And i dont think he agrees with some things pertaining to the war either but because he made a promise to this country and because he loves his brothers who he have met over in Iraq he cant leave.
Maybe by him believing he is helping someone is keeping him sane. Because if you are constantly thinking that this is pointless why am i killing innocent people any person would go insane. And your right its not his fault.
