I’m looking for some good books to read.

Some authors I enjoy are Albert Camus, Stephen King, Hemmingway, Dennis Lehane.. there’s a lot more, but those are the topish ones. Any suggestions?

The Lovely Bones is the most painful and uplifting book I’ve ever read.

For light hearted fare, I recently read “Water for Elephants” and laughed out loud and cried a bit on the plane as I read it.

If you like King, and have read “It”, I recommend “Floating Dragon” by Peter Straub. It’s a very similar storyline but without the “and then it turned out to be about a giant turtle” (sorry, if I just spoiled “It” for anyone, but honestly, it was so dopey and “Floating Dragon” is much better!)

I’m not familiar with Dennis Lahane, so I can’t help you there.

I’ll check out Water For Elephants. I’d heard it was good.

I have read Floating Dragon, and a few others by Straub, I did enjoy them.

Dennis Lehane wrote Mystic River, which was made into a movie, although the book was better which is often the case, but the movie was fairly close. If you liked the movie, you’d like his books.

Thanks for the suggestions.

how funny! I JUST watched Mystic River tonight! I’m sure the book was quite good, but the movie, on its own, was riveting.

hah, how ironic. He’s an amazing author, I fell in love with him from the moment I picked up one of his novels.

He also wrote Gone Baby Gone, which is part of a “series” involving the two main characters.

Water for Elephants was good. One of my favorite summer reads was Life of Pi.
