Computer Questions –
Greetings!
I currently have an older (OK, antique) Dell Inspiron Laptop 9100 (Pentium 4, 3gHz, highspeed front end buss) and have installed an larger HDD and maxed out the RAM to 2GB. However, I’m seeing very little improvement in system speed since I added the RAM. I understand that this is a very old Laptop and that it’s probably doing the best it can but I’m wondering if there are any setup changes or tweeks that might help my boat anchor limp along a bit faster.
Next, I have installed Acronis Backup software which creates backup images on my external 1TB Maxtor HDD. However, when I run System Tools, the drive is diagnosed as being badly fragmented and should be defraged immediately. I’ve contacted Acronis and was told that this is normal. Any Comments?
Lastly, I recently downloaded a Registry Cleaner by the name of “EasyCleaner 2.0″. I also have Ccleaner on board. After running Ccleaner and making any repairs identified, I then run EasyEleaner and it comes up with a great deal more issues. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to contact EasyCleaner and an not comfortable making the corrections suggested by EC. Anybody have any experience with this particular Registry Cleaner?
Thanks to all for letting me vent !
Regards,
Steve
