life help: I left my country to pursue higher education in UK. - Help.com

I left my country to pursue higher education in UK.

All i wanted was to help people like the way I did in my country. with such intentions i came to undertake a professional course in social work.but all i got was disappointments and failures. My placement got terminated and I was told to persue furthur experience.after 3months of depression and frustration, I dont think I want to stay here. I want to go home now. I cant seem to understand that when my intention has been to devote my life for people welfare, then why is this frustration and depression? I am losing my spirit. what shall I do?

People are frustrating and you cant help all of them. Trying to help humanity is like beating a dead horse. The only way to help is to educate.

Unfortunately, strict guidelines do have to be adhered to in public service in UK and it sounds like there has been some unfortunate misunderstanding. Don’t take this as a personal slur on you - it is more than likely a question of having to follow their procedures.

When they told you to pursue further experience, what do you think they meant? Work in another field? Work in the same field under someone’s management?

I think the best thing to do is to explore avenues where you can still lead a fulfilling and satisfying role. If you are attending a college or University, maybe you can transfer to a different course?

This is just a setback and shouldn’t mean you have to give up your dreams. Learn from the experience and move forward with it in the best way you can.
