video conversions.

i am using ibook g4 and would like to know how to convert avi. video files into files that a windows computer can play without the need of quicktime. i am trying to present this video in microsoft powerpoint(if it makes a difference)

Seach for a AVI converter in www.download.com. Make sure you filter out all the trail versions and show only the free ones (menu to the left after you have the search resules).

Try MPEG Streamclip (app) and Perian (codec).

AVI is a file format that Windows understands.
However you also need to make sure the video and audio codecs are compatible.
