Because Heroin dulls their feelings. When they come down, those feelings come rushing back all at once, and they can’t stand them. They can’t sort them out, they can’t fix a lot of it, they can’t cope. Worse, this happens while their brains are still a bit drugged, so they can’t think clearly, either.

And, they’re addicted. Never underestimate the power of an addiction.

In fact, I can give you an idea what addiction is like right now:

I am so sorry for the pain your sister has caused your family, but she needs to find the road to recovery on her own. If losing her beautiful children is not enough to wake her up, it may be a long time before she cleans up. Is there someone in your family who can raise the kids?

I’m sorry to hear that:( Jackie you can’t help her. You can only contact a professional and protect yourself. I hope she “accepts” help and you can have a relationship with the kids. Her illness is like gong to the dentist and having your face froze and expecting to feel pain…not possible, but when the freezing wears off..ouch! Maybe you can contact an interventionist. Google it. Best of luck and do whats right for the children..them first.

jackiemtz00, I’m sorry but I think Maxi is right. If you can convince her to go into rehab, good. If not, my advice is for you to stay as far away from the situation as possible, without running away from home of course. Your stepdad died of an overdose and your sister is on a downward spiral. It looks like you’re in a rough environment. Is your mom using too? If you can’t get her into rehab, just don’t be pulled down with her.
