This is the best piece of advice that I have to offer everyone on this site, so listen up.

As many of you know, or as many of you could easily find out by looking at my posts, I’m moving to Arizona. The time is dwindling now, and I will be going in just about a week. I have lived in PA all my life, that means I have a LOT of people to say goodbye too. Unfortunately, through this entire bittersweet ending and new beginning, I have noticed an ongoing trend. Just about every day I have someone tell me something that they should have said months, even years, ago. People who I thought never appreciated me as a friend are now realizing what they’re about to be missing. I will, of course, stay in touch with my friends from high school, college, and everywhere else in the mix, but since I’m going across the country, I won’t be as readily available. Don’t get me wrong, my good friends have always appreciated me and showed it. But now amongst the slew of ill-timed kind words, the ever growing number of dates who now tell me that they wish for something more (currently 4, I’m hoping the number does not get any larger), and the people who just never ‘got it’ before, I can’t help but wonder:

Why is this so difficult? Don’t ever, ever wait to tell someone how you feel about them or to show them how much you appreciate them. No matter who it is- friend, lover, family member, the paper boy, santa… don’t waste a single minute holding in feelings, being scared, or not communicating what you really want to say. You never know what tomorrow may bring. I can never put into words how wonderful the level of peace is that can be achieved by just telling people what’s on your mind. If you’re mad, explain why. If you’re sad, reach out for someone close to you. If you’re happy, share that smile with someone you love. Say everything that you need to say today, so that tomorrow you can live your life without regrets. I’ll sleep peacefully every night, while those who never spoke their piece lay awake and wonder.

That is all. Thanks for reading.

i agree. what a nice post.

the only downer is when you tell somebody about happiness or more so love, and the feeling isn’t returned. i know i, like many, am terrified of rejection. i’m really sensitive.

I never knew until today that I appreciate you! I appreciate you! Good luck in your move! Kudos to you for making so many goo friends. and good for you for touching so many lives that you didn’t even know you touched.

I will take from you you find words of wisdom and let my friends know what they mean to me.

I ask you to be more aware of the impressive path you cut through the world in your next home and know you mean more than you know.

fair enough?

In the long run though…I’d so much rather be rejected then wonder what would have happened if I never did anything. When you tell someone your feelings, you take the weight off your own back. Give it to them, if they do reject you, then they can deal with the what ifs later. At least you won’t have to

I hope that you enjoy Arizona. You are moving here during the hottest season of the year. It has been mild so far though. Not like last year when it was 120 for the whole summer. If you want to learn Spanish when you get here check out the school where I take classes: Spanish Classes http://www.letutor.com Tempe, Arizona http://www.letutor.com/locations.html

I have actually lived in Mexico, so I’m decent with the Spanish (enough to get around) and okay with the temperature. Thanks so much for the tip though, I’m really excited to get to use my Spanish more. I’m looking for a job at a college though, so I can go to grad school in a year or two for free…I’ll give that website a look :O)

How long did you live in Mexico for? That sounds like fun.

Thanks Snowflake, your message is really right! Even if something is long overdue, it’s still better to say it than to think it’s too late. It’s like clearing out your house of unused STUFF (a project I’m starting to work on now, preparing for my move). Hope you love Arizona.
