Just want to tell you all a ridiculous love story.
I’ve got a friend, we’ll call her Leslie. I also have an ex boyfriend, we’ll call him Alan. Leslie and Alan have been friends since fourth grade. They’re very close, and when Alan and I started dating, she introduces herself as his friend. Soon, Leslie becomes MY best friend. Two months after this, Alan breaks up with me and I’m absolutely devastated. I remember confiding absolutely EVERYTHING in Leslie, from ridiculous embarrassing stories to everything I hated about the kid. I also remember saying “Leslie, you’re lucky you aren’t in love.” Woooo, was I wrong.
Fast forward about a month from this time, a bunch of us are hanging out together. My one friend asks Leslie in complete seriousness, “Leslie…do you LIKE Alan?” And she doesn’t answer…but admits the next day that yeah, she does. It turns out, she’s liked him since fourth grade. FOURTH GRADE. And Alan’s completely aware of it—just about everyone from her old school knew, I was the only one left in the dark here. So not only do I feel terrible because I (unintentionally) hurt my best friend…but because I still like him. Although I know I should really give it up, because it’s obvious he has zero feelngs for me at this point.
I’m not really sure what to do. There’s obviously a reason it didn’t work out with Alan for me, but I really think this could be it for Leslie. But she won’t let me talk to him, ask him anything about the possibility of them dating.
UGHHHH.
