Well you are sort of right. the companies you are phoning have out-sourced their helplines to India - so you are actually speaking to an Indian person in a call centre in India - hence the strong Indian accent. Those people get paid pennies and are taught to read from a script - that’s why you cant get an unusual problem resolved - they dont have a script for it. In the UK a lot of people have stopped using companies with Indian call centres because, the language barrier is appalling, nothing gets done and these people are being exploited. We actively choose companies that promise call centres in our own country - Mas

I’m in the U.S. and I know that many customer service lines for large companies have offices based in eastern countries, so I guess the employees there do speak with accents because English is not their native language. I used to work for a major telecommunications company and I know that they have agents in India.

All of our major utility companies and banks in the UK moved their call centres to India some years back - one by one they are moving them back to the UK - they were losing customers in droves. - Thanks jezzy9 - noted and ignored

Call their corporate headquarters. Only one voice, but I’m sure many have complained.
