Ever since I’ve gotten a new computer with Windows
Vista my internet has been messing up, (ie shutting down constantly) is this just coincidental, or is it Vista? No one else under our wireless interent seems affected by this.

Ya, I do actually. I downloaded some when I got the computer.
Download this http://www.google.com/search?q=frame+… run it as it is, dont try to change the settings until you know more about it.
Also do this regularly.
1. click on tools above right.
2. click internet options.
3. click on delete.
4. click on delete all.
5. click yes.
6. click OK.
This website is going through a lot of changes lately, it is quite a slow site at best. Also this website is encountering difficulties and cuts people of quite regular as well.
sorry what you should have down loaded was this. http://www.ccleaner.com/
What is above is just basic security for any computer, it does no harm to have and use them on your computer.
Also any firewall other than windows, is a must. Try this old post for some details.http://help.com/post/121745-i-thought-you-might-like-some-help

I had a worse problem than that when I had Vista. Vista didn’t support my router, and it was impossible for me to update my router software… no wireless at all. When you have a laptop and a wireless router, the most annoying thing in the world is to be confined to an area within 3 meters of the router (my LAN cable is that short).
The final straw for me was when I installed service pack 1 for Vista. The service pack fix effectively fixed my problem of having a working DVD burner. Oh what horror of having that thing working… thank you sp1. I could still play CDs and DVDs, but I was now unable to burn anything at all to disk. It just ruined the disks and spit out some error problem.
The good thing was that Windows Virus… I mean Vista… wasn’t that hard to fix. Pop in an XP CD and my problem vanished after half an hour or so. After a few driver installations (thanks to the Acer support website), I not only had my working DVD burner back, but also a fully working wireless network. That made me happy… for a while.
I still felt a bit betrayed and hung out to dry by the wonderful company behind Vista. I bought the laptop in another country than the one I was currently residing in, so all attempts from me to get official support for my problems were met by walls and shutting doors. I was not happy about that.
While I was poking around to find a solution for my DVD/Vista problem, I did some experiments with Linux. Those failed miserably, but there are a lot of Linux distributions to choose from, so I figured I’d just been unlucky.
So while working on XP I kept on going back and checking what was available, and noticed there was a new version of Ubuntu upcoming. I’d heard good things about Ubuntu from a few anti-windows people, so I thought I’d try it out. Once again I failed. The “install from windows” option seemed cool at first, but then threw me into a few problems, because even the easiest Linux can be a hassle for the narrow mind of a lifetime Windows user. I had to abort.. stick my tail between my legs and log onto my XP screen again.
That lasted like 15 minutes. I decided to do a full installation of Ubuntu (I’m weird, I know), and force myself to learn it by not having a backup operating system to go back to. Weirdest thing in the world happened. The full installation not only worked better than the failed first partial installation… it also found ALL my hardware drivers automatically. I was a happy boy.
So here’s what I recommend for Windows Vista related problems: Get rid of it and install Windows XP. It’s a great operating system, and it has been around long enough to have most of the bugs worked out of it.
I’m not gonna push Linux here, because it’s not good for everyone and everything. Also, it’s a really big change, and you have to be prepared for a lot of trial and error as a new user.
For everyday use, XP is a solid choice for every PC user.
Sorry about the rant. Look forward to next week when I’ll be doing a full review of the entire internet, page by page. Cheers.
Hi Anthrax.
I have both, I suppose I am lucky. Windows vista is OK when you get used to using it. This one I am using for this site, runs on vista. My other computers run on XP-SP2.
I am just getting to like vista better than XP, Besides thi is the fact that slowly less and less will be suported by microsoft windows for XP, that everything is being geared towards moving to vista.
I’m kinda skeptic about how well Vista will be working in the future. You know that Microsoft is working full steam to push out Windows 7 to make up for the bad press they’ve gotten because of Vista, right?
I’m just guessing here, but seems to me that Microsoft will do whatever they can to quit support for XP as soon as possible, and discontinue Vista support as soon as the support term is up, in favor of promoting Windows 7, which is rumored to already pre-release next year (although it’s officially scheduled for 2010).
I don’t see Vista as being the messiah of OS’s. I confess, it has a lot to do with my personal experience with Vista, and the fact that I’ve been one of the unlucky ones to have a computer it doesn’t support correctly. However, the fact that an OS doesn’t work good with a certain computer only shows that the OS itself is lacking and leaves a lot to be desired.
I’m hoping to see a LOT more from Microsoft on the Windows 7 project.
I also want to share: I’m not brand loyal… I will use whatever works the best for me. Right now that’s Linux, but if that throws up a block for what I want to use, I will move on without any hesitations. Who knows… maybe if Microsoft pulls it off with Windows 7, I might be using that.
Comfort before ego.
Thanks Anthrax.
Will watch out for the new windows 7. Hope they get it right this time like you say.
Yeah, I’m hoping it will achieve (and go beyond) what longhorn was supposed to do.
