Where were you?
You can also watch events on Help.com as they happen
as a person who owned a daycare for 8 years… having a boyfriend/girlfriend duo doing daycare or babysitting is not a good thing at all.. parents will be afraid to leave their children in the care of people who are dating because they will fear that their child will be ignored..
oh, i ment best friend, not boy friend. and we’re both girls and straight
:)
also.. if you want to do babysitting… i suggest you go to your local ymca and ask about the babysitting course that they offer.. get registered as a babysitter and you will learn how to do cpr and first aid.. which will look better for you when trying to get a babysitting job..
flyers are good.. also, newspaper ads work too.. but make sure you have plenty of references for the parents to call…

put references on the flyer?
no.. you do not want to have people’s phone numbers out in public.. just yours.. put down on the flyer.. what you are looking to do… that you have references that they can contact..
references are people that know you personally… adults especially or even people that you have babysat for before… someone who knows who you are.. how reliable and responsible you are…
i would also look into the ymca class.. so that you can become cpr and first aid certified.. this is something that a lot of parents are looking for in babysitters as well..
but make sure you call these people of reference to let them know that you will be using them….
also… you have to remember.. that you are only allowed to watch up to 2 children each… its the law.. because of not being certified…
what if we are certified?
can you give us examples of what to put on the flyers?
to be certified.. you have to be atleast 18 years old.. you have to have a home that is up to standards for the state in which you live in.. you also have to attend a safety course that lasts 10 hours and costs 180.00.. then.. you get your license.. but also have to attend classes each year totaling 30 hours.. its a long process.. but you would then be able to watch 8 school aged children.. or 6 school aged and a child under the age of 2..
as for the flyer.. i would actually write something down about the two of you looking for a summer job. hours from ? to ? . wages are negotiable.. what you offer, either breakfast, lunch and snack… plenty of fun, etc.. be sure to put.. we have personal refrences. then leave your number on there so that people can contact you.
i would look into seeing what minimum wage your state pays for babysitting fees an hour… and then maybe even deduct it by 2 or 3 dollars.. because it is a great paying job…
would 3 dollars an hour for each of us be too much? or too little?
it sounds good.. but again.. i would check into the babysitting wages in your area.. just go to www.google.com and put in your state or even you county and babysitting wages.. and it will tell you how much you can get for babysitting… and then drop the price by 2 or 3 dollars… and then the parents and you can negotiate on the price from there..
i cant find it, i think $3per girl isnt too much to ask? im not sure though i guess they can negotiate if they think so.
i want to babysit to make a little money, and i love kids…what should i do to get started?
