I just got a bird cage and I trying to figure out what type of bird would be best.

It is a small cage. I bought it because it is PERFECT. It is an antique from the 1920’s. What makes it so wonderful is that it came with a stand from which it hangs. So it is both off the ground, yet still at my level. For my lifestyle, I need a cage as such because I am an owner of a rather naughty cat. (I love him) But since the base of the unit is very heavy and I believe I will not have any problems. So I would like to know species of birds that are tiny because I don’t want it to be cramped. (only want ONE bird) cage won’t be comfortable for two.

they actually put your little birdie in a box… yup. thats what i said.. but it will be ok.. i would see if they can help you clip its wings.. if you prefer to have it out and about on your shoulder… if you plan on keeping it in the cage.. then i wouldnt worry about it..

i would also try and get it as young as you can, like just out of the nest, or get a hand reared one.
hand reared are the best as theyre tamer and used to people so dont get so stressed out.
its not hard to kill a bird through stress, so the less stressed the better lol

just put a glove on and let it get on ur finger then slowly pull it out of the cage but if that doesnt work then u can always get a cage with a bigger door that is what my brother did
