well theres the common 50 then area 51 where experiments on mass consciousness caused a lot of people to suddenyl think there were 52 states (which technically there are i believe. could be the pentagon)

There are only 50 US states. The OP is either confused about the definition of the word state (i.e. including DC and PR or some other territory), or attempting to make fools out of us all. Is no one brave enough to say what they know is true?

For those inclined to nitpick: Give up already! A commonwealth is no different than a state in any way other than name, so it counts as a state.
