I dunno. You may want to consult an attorney. You might make a case for “constructive eviction,” e.g., you had to leave because the place was infested with cockroaches or the roof always leaked and soaked your bed. I’ve been both a landlord and a renter, and there are stinkers on both sides. I’d never want to rent a house to tenants any more. One bad set of tenants will wipe out 15 years of profits.
