Car Questions…
. What to buy
So, i just got a very large sump of money, and I want peoples opinion on which of my plausible dream cars to get. Either a 1968 Pontiac GTO, that I would take the time to build, or a 1990’s Toyota Supra 2JZ? What do you think?

Im not looking for gas mileage or anything, just a good old fashioned fun car
Both. I eventually want to be able to get one of each, but i don’t know which one first…
I think Supra is better. Strong Engine, Beautiful in Shape. I like this car. If I were u, I was going to buy SUPRA. Pontiac isnt bad. U should try both. Have u test Drived them?
weird thing. in 1997 i had a friend in san francisco who drove a 1990something supra daily but had a GTO (hand-me-down from his dad) that he’d cruise on the weekends.
do you already have transportation? if so, get the GTO.
p.s. he still has the GTO. not the supra. (if that’s indicative of anything…?)
A Supra will hold value as well. People are selling them for a minimum of $30K. The lowest I have seen a 2JZ is $33. But Ξ qΛ§Ħ Ξ, I don’t think there is anything stronger than a 454 Chevy big block built with forged internals. Ah, its so frusrating.
I would suggest that what you get should depend on what you are going to do with it…if you are going to drive it, get the Supra. If you want to show it, get the GTO.

Chevy wasnt an option. He asked for Supra or GTO. Supra looks Stronger so I suggested Supra.

They might not be they same name company, but they are both owned by GM. At the time he wants for a GTO, all cars were carburated, and all GM engines were inter-changable between the names companies. Chevy big blocks are a dime a dozen anymore, and can be used in any GM car pre-’80’s. Just like today, the Saturn Sky and the Pontiac Solstice are the same cars
I would personally get the GTO. Its an “All American Classic” if you build it right and make it look good, it will be worth it. Those are two totally different cars, so you have to decide what kind of “crowd” to hang out with. DO you want to be with the classics or do you want to be with the foreign makes? The GTO would be easier to work on and probably to find parts for, not 100% about that but generally american cars are easier to work on than foreign makes. Well, hope you like whatever you get!

ok. Thanx forthe info. So wt did u decide?
It’s me, the same Anon, just on a diff computer. I will probably go with the Supra, because even with the money I have, the 12-16mpg that I would get from the GTO would put me in a downward spiral. Although, I don’t know if the Supra is much better…I’m gonna hold out on the GTo until I get more money to put into the engine, tranny, etc.
Thanks man. And thanks for all the opinions
