I’ve been looking for a job for about 4-5 months now and still nothing, The only job I do have is looking for a job and that is full time.

I’m a college student who’s dropping everything to make more time to find a job and be easier to be scheduled if I do find a one. I want anything except retail like stores and food places. I still can’t find anything I’ve gone to so many interviews i lost count but no one wants me… This sucks I owe a LOT of money cause of legal matters and only have about $200 left in my account I can’t eat out and have to conserve gas. Can anyone recommend anything, why do some people get all the luck while others have to suffer ?

Read “What color is your parachute” by Richard Bolles. Great advice on what holds people back in the whole job hunting game.

Take the retail or food place job and look for something better.

Suggestion: Fine tune your typing and grammar skills, increase your proficiency in Microsoft Office and you can get a job as a legal assistant or a legal secretary. Start with temp agencies and get temp assignments for $15-$20 and hour and after you build six months of strong work history then get settled in a law firm and you can make something like $25 an hour with great benefits.

THEN, once the dust settles, you can focus on the direction of your life.

Peace&love,

You can even make $17 an hour applying for a job at a hospital sterilizing instruments. Medical/Legal is the way to go.

When starting out looking for a job, you can’t always get the career job of choice right off the bat, as you have experienced. go get a job that will hire you right away, I know that it sucks but you meet a lot of people working at fast food. mcdonalds usually starts out at a very good wage for competent people, I have seen them offer my 17 year old daughter $9.00 an hour, because she is dependable. also, there is management training at McDonalds, which really will look good on a resume. what ladyPheonix suggested is also a good suggestion. the Temp agencies are really good. try Kelly Girl. they are very well known and a lot of companies will only hire through them, temp to perm, for example: Microsoft in washington state. I myself would prefer fast food over retail, because retail seems so boring! anyway, I really like the temp job idea. even though your going to a different job each time, you still work for the same company. which is awesome on your resume. you get paid by the temp service and even get benefits from the service. hopefully this helps

You don’t need experience for the that hospital job. Most hospitals will train.

Stick with school if you can, it only gets harder when you don’t have an education to back you. Are your parents still around? Can they help you in any way? Did you apply for a federal student loan? Try getting anything you can get, keep doing interviews and don’t quit yet. You sound young, you have a whole life ahead of you to figure this out.

I am studied the basics to get my A.A. but was starting to study a bit for my real goal which is audio engineer/recording engineer. I’m not looking for a career job just a better one that can help me financially get me back on my feet, I know I’m not going to get a job with a warner brothers being the senior audio technician, I just want something better like a service porter, custodian, labor helper etc… Everyone assumes that Im looking for a great amazing job, im a realist and know its near impossible at this time just need something better, something I can tolerate.
