Depending on how old your computer is you might no be able to update it. However, usually you can just buy a new one from Best Buy, and then open up your hard drive and install it yourself because they usually come with instructions or you can have a proffesional do it.

do not open your hard drive… that will erase all data on it.. i think he ment to open your computer case up and install it to the motherboard

YEA, lol dont open the hard drive that would be bad, I just meant the casing around the modem.
