Hey.

I am a legal assistant for a small law firm and i have been here for 4 months. I was thinking of getting a CLA (Certified Legal Assistant) Certificate or even a degree (AA/ BA). My question is how long will it take and what are the required courses? I was planning to go to a Community college or even a private/ technical school. I live in San fernando Valley/ Los Angeles, Ca.

I don’t know how long it would take. But it’s totally worth a shot. Just do that and get at least 2 years of experience at the small firm and THEN switch to bigger firm. Small firms are great for gain experience since you do a lot of work and are not just assigned to one specific task. Good luck!
