computer help: my computer just screwed up. - Help.com

my computer just screwed up.

I can’t download anything. All my websites go to Open DNS. My McAfee won’t protect my computer and I have JavaScript but being told I don’t have it. I uninstalled it then tried to reinstall it and it won’t reinstall. Every page says there are errors on it. My computer was working fine yesterday and all of a sudden without me doing anything to it it is screwed up. I can’t go to websites I used to be able to go to, I have no idea what happened. I even restored my computer to an earlier time when there were no problems and still it is screwed up PLEASE HELP!

Have you tried to reboot? If that doesn’t work, reboot in safe mode, and see if you can access things that way. If so, then you have a problem loading up. When you turn off your computer, restart it holding down the F8 key and tell it to restart in safe mode. It will look strange, but try to access web pages and see what happens. You can find all sorts of info at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com also. Try rebooting regular first, then safe mode, then post what happens.

If your PC seems like its slowing down or having a hard time surfing the web or just doesn’t seem right.
You should go to http://download.com and get these programs.
AD-Aware: http://www.download.com/3120-20_4.htm…
Spybot search and destroy: http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search…
CCleaner: http://www.download.com/CCleaner/3000…
and and if you dont have an Antivirus program you can use
Avast: http://www.download.com/Avast-Home-Ed…
or AVG: http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Viru…
and for your firewall a good program is
Zone Alarm: http://www.download.com/ZoneAlarm-Fir…
Install these programs and run them regulary. This will keep your system clean and running properly. These programs are free and Download.com is a part of CNET (the site that your posting on right now). Hope this helps :-)

You’ve got a virus I reckon. It’s off to the local PC doctor for you my friend.

Might have virus there. If you can load and virus scanner i would scan it and see if it gets rid of it. However, best bet might be just format your hd and reinstall everything.

Check your fans. Make sure that there is good air flow through the processor fan and if there is dust use a can of compresses air and blow out the fan and colling coil. Hope this helps :-)
