uhh….why does he WANT to be fat? tell his parents to start buying healthy food only. or tie him to an ellipticle and turn it on for a few hours.

I can’t force him to do it! I live in another country! I don’t know how his parents feel about the matter but his obsession with being fat has been on his mind for months now!
I’m curious as to why he WANTS to gain more pounds if he thinks he’s already fat.
Just tell him he’s gonna get his *** kicked on a daily basis if he doesn’t start working out!! I know, he won’t but tell him that anyways!
Start calling him names like “fatty” and “lard-a–”. I know it’s not a nice thing to do but really it’s for his own good and may save his life.

That might make me lose him as a friend and I don’t want that! :(
I don’t want to hurt his feelings, I bet he already may think these things.
I actually don’t think he’s all that fat but I know that he is.

My cousin says he wants to gain pounds this summer.
He’s already overweight and for some skewed reason he wants to gain 20 pounds.
How do I tell him that he will get sick when he gets older if he starts becoming obese at a young age?
He won’t listen, he says “I want to be fat.”

Just ask him why he wants to be fat.
Alright, I did and edited the post with the new information, so now what?

Well, that’s really weird. Maybe he wants to be able to eat whatever he wants without caring, maybe he’s just pulling your leg. Maybe he wants to be a sumo wrestler.
so I should just let it go?

I don’t know what you should do. Clearly it’s bad for his health to gain too much weight. If you knew his real reason for doing it you might be able to talk him out of it. Try asking him who are the fat guys that he thinks are so cool. Also, how old is he?Also you mention you want to tell him he’ll get sick when he gets older if he becomes obese when young. Have you tried saying that to him?
He’s 13. I’ve told him about future health risks but he thinks I’m wrong.
He’s very stubborn.
His reasoning for this is that he’ll it LOTS of HEALTHY food to get fat, therefore reducing the risk of future health problems.
Maybe you could persuade him to do weight training - so he will be putting on the pounds but not getting fatter. Tell him he’ll look a lot cooler and everyone will admire him if he has big muscles rather than a big belly.

Good idea.

My cousin says he wants to gain pounds this summer. (EDITED)
He’s already sort of chubby, and he knows it. For some skewed reason he wants to gain 20 pounds.
How do I tell him that he will get sick when he gets older if he starts becoming obese at a young age?
Our conversation;
Me: Why do you want to get fat again?
Him: Because it is awesome.
Me: No, like whats the real reason that seems believable.
Him: Because being fat is cool.
Me: According to you?
Him: Why does it matter? It’s not like being fat is bad.
Me: No but like … what’s your reason for it?
Him: My reason is that being fat is cool. I like being fat. I want to get fatter.
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO SAY TO THIS?
DO I JUST LET IT BE?
