Are you in the zone?

~ Are you in the zone? ~
I’m guessing most of you have played sports at one point or another in your life. Have you ever noticed that when you are playing against another person or team that is better than you that you kick-in that little bit of extra “juice”? You know that if you stick to what is comfortable; to what you always do, that you will loose to this team for sure. You have to stretch out of your comfort zone if you expect a competitive game, let alone WIN! You rise to the occasion.
Why would you think anything else in your life would be different? People always say, but Richard you are talking apples and oranges. I’m not playing a baseball game here; I’m trying to make Executive Director of the company I work for! Is there a difference? Do you have a team that is (or can be) working for you? Do you have opposition? Are they better than you in some ways? Hey… I’m here to tell you life is life, and the talents and gifts we bring to the table are the same every single time – there is no difference.
If you want to rise to the occasion you have to break free of your comfort zone. Change is never achieved by doing the same thing. The Dali Lama says, “… great love requires great risk …” I believe this and I’m willing to take it further to say anything great will take great risk…
You can’t really be a surfer, if you never get your belly off the board. RISE to the occasion - break out of your comfort zone, and GO FOR IT!
Bright blessings ~ Richard
