There are many stories, but I think the big difference is that with a web browser, people can see information on the internet, which is the whole structure of humans connected through things like computers and cellphones, phone lines, television cable, satellites.) The “Web” is the visible part that is viewable through a webbrowser. Information of a lower level, like your computer asking its internet service provider to send some piece of information, is not really considered part of the web, but is still part of the internet.

Heres the difference.

The internet is what connects the web to the world. The web is basically what you are on right now, the internet allows you to be on the web.
