I’m at the end of my rope.
2years ago my 55 year old husband had a disabling stroke. I dug in and tried to deal with that and two teen sons ready to go to college. Shortly after the stroke I found out that my husband’s business had gone into bankruptcy and he owed money to everyone including the IRS. Our house was never mortgaged and through all the trying times of attempting to pay the debts that had to be paid, taking care of medical bills, securing college loans, and trying to handle a business bankruptcy that I knew nothing about, I always felt at least I had the house to fall back on. I’ve finally gotten to the place where I thought we could make it if I could just get a home equity to pay off the high credit card debt from two years worth of expenses . Then to my shock, though my credit was fine, I find that the creditors from my husband’s business have put liens against my house. I’ve never owed a dime to anyone and my savings paid for this house. Now even if I sell it, I’ll get absolutely nothing because of what my husband did. I wish I would have had the stroke and then I could be as totally unaware as he is. I don’t think anyone can help me but I only have my husband and sons and the kids have had to deal with enough without me laying this on them.
