I cant think at all what it could be, have you thought of getting in touch with you nearest zoo? A zoologist might be able to give you an answer.

Why don’t you try setting up a camera?

Are you in racoon country? They will eat almost anything and are pretty agile too!

Hi, Mas1s a bird of prey? Don’t think birds have fangs.

I have frozen the left over meat and evidence such as the bags the food is still in. I plan on taking it to our local food and health facility to maybe get dna testing on it.

I borrowed a camera , a game cam from a friend two days ago, the batteries died after ninety pictures taken at 30 second intervals. Since then this friend has been unavailable to help me turn this thing on… she has it on a password! dang!

I bought night vision monoculars yesturday and I have a baby monitor set up in the area so I can hear what is coming in the area.

I should mention that I have a cat, who is not around when this animal is, he’s been gone for about a week now, and comes around when this thing leaves to possibly go hunt? ( Speculating here) but we have a dump across the road so it can scrounge around there.

Yes we have had racoons, and get this, thier chatter is non existent! We no longer have as many racoons in the area as we did! and I have diliberately hung the food in an area where a racoon cannot get at… the food is at least 6 ft off the ground.

we have a water source near by, and even my neighbour thought we had raccoons, her and her husband have been living in the area for 45 years, and she took a look and does not think that this is the workings of a racoon, anyway, thier snout is long and narrow, the bite marks are too big for a racoon.

Thanks so much guys for your input…

We’ve actually seen racoons and skunks come up to our back door. I’ve made noises around them and they don’t pay attention to me, when they are more interested in the cat and dog food I left out on the porch over night… yeah that was when we first moved here… been a year on this farm… we are city folk born and raised…

Hmm.. well good luck with it srnity! Let us know what you discover! If it were uk, I’d be thinking about ferrets.. don’t know if you have them there. Or mink maybe. But racoons are bigger so the bite doesn’t fit. Pine Martens can reach a fair size though.

Bears are pretty noisy by all accounts.. and messy.

I’m intrigued!

oh I’ll let you all know what’s going on, I’m intriqued, from what I’ve heard, bear aren’t this elusive.

no we don’t have ferrets in the wild here…

okay so my dog can’t jump that high to get at the bag of meat or the meat skewered on the branch… I was thinking coyote or wolf… but even if they did jump up… the bag would have to be stretched first then torn… these bags have clear bite marks but no stretching of the plastic… okay so I say bear… but that’s my question… the bag isn’t torn into, with a piece missing… it’s almost sliced open, with the meat exposed ( ground bison) and then a bite is taken out of it.

I am not trying to be argumentative here… it’s hard to get every single detail on here to share with you guys, I do appreciate your input.

Not sure if the html is working, i’d post pictures if I could to show you what I mean… I’ve found a very curious print… not sure if you guys understood what I eluded to what I saw… not a bear… bigger…

I will keep you all posted, this isn’t over yet, and with my personality I don’t want it to be over… I’ll get to the bottom of this one way or another… Thanks again.

I’m wondering if it’s possible several different animals could be at work but it just seems like one?

YES ! No joke! I didn’t want to say because I am desperately trying to get picture proof! The way I saw it was by accident… or was it?

It was June 3, at about 9:45 am, I went outside to pray, my daughter was inside eating breakfast, and since it was a beautiful day, I went out to sit on my lawn and just gain insight for the day and to spend a few minutes in prayer.

I happened to open my eyes and look up and across the road and see a figure… it was abnormally big, and I wasn’t sure what I was looking at. I stood up from where I was sitting and RAN as fast as I could ( didn’t know how long this would be in my view) and ran up to our row of fir trees that are infront of our yard. I was about maybe 80-100 feet away from it now, with a ditch and a gravel road seperating it and me. I stared at this for a good minute and a half. Dang I wish I had the digital camera but who takes a camera with them to go and pray???

I did not see it’s body, only about eight inches of the top of it’s shoulder and it’s head… this thing had no neck! It was thickly built! and shaggy like a brown grizzly bear, but it wasn’t a bear! It stood motionless with it’s partial side and back to me… I wanted it to turn around, THANK GOD it didn’t.
There was a vehicle in the distance and it ducked out of view… I could see off in the distance, the local dump attendant walking… her back was to me… I had to squint to see her long hair, and what she was wearing… she didn’t see this thing, but what was going on was this thing was watching her! and it had positioned itself so it could see me if anything should have happened on my end.

Honestly people, if I was in a situation where I had to run, I would not have been able to get to my front door fast enough, it could have cleared the road and the ditch and leaped through our fir trees and reach me before I had a handle on the door.

There is more to this story, not a sighting but events… my husband and I experienced two weeks before I had this sighting…

Our dogs are scared out of thier wits… I mean, my dog who we keep in the garage at night managed to open the door to the house and let himself in. Well come down the stairs at 2 am, in pitch dark to be met with a growl! Frickin scary let me tell you!
my dog also growls and barks in the direction of the dump where I had my sighting… we suspect that he’s seen this thing more than once, and has had rocks thrown at him. Last year my husband picked up all the rocks in the area of our lawn so they didn’t catch with the ride on lawn mower… our daughter helped… he swears they got every rock, actually dug the big rocks out of the dirt… and this year… there are little hand sized rocks littered all over the lawn area, particularily where I had our dog tied up ( he was going and digging and exploring on our land getting into things, chewing mud flaps off our vehicles…) and he has never tried to get off his leash before, and one day he was off… interesting.

I found a print that looks like a knuckle print you know how a gorilla walks… animals do not have ridge marks and you can clearly see ridge patterns the thumb has made digging into the dirt.

I have found a soft foot print, hard to make out, but it’s there, our ground is so hard and it’s clay dirt, and most of our land is covered in grass or pine needles and leaves it’s hard to find a track… the bite marks left in the meat are not tears, they are clear bites, clean and round like a human… but you can clearly see fang marks in the plastic or in the meat…

our neighbour came back with the game camera, they now think that I’m dealing with a raccoon, because a bear will leave scat around… that’s why I’m reluctant to tell my story, I desperately want proof, that’s why I am baiting it, so when my hubby’s home he can see it, I don’t want to be the only one to see this… I want corraberating proof. I know what I saw, and I admit at first, I was doubting myself, because who sees such a thing? This clearly is ” I’ll believe it when I see it.”

should have some pics hopefully soon!

This is to the avid hunters…

Hello all, well I have a question, my time has been diverted off this site for about three weeks now. I come on here when I can, but it seems like we may have something on our land that is very elusive and it has my dog spooked! My husband and I have heard some unusual things around, and I have actually seen something… but I do not know if the corresponding events are linked.

I will say this that I have been leaving meat out for this animal, and it takes it. we have alot of trees on our property and this animal seems to be using that as cover. My question is, after three weeks of baiting… and laying down fresh soil to get decent tracks… I have yet to see this animal or any scat or tracks. Would a bear take a bite out of a raw chicken breast and leave the rest. We have had this happen with raw ground bison meat, cooked elk meat, popcorn, banana(banana was taken) Sometimes I’ve left cooked chicken in a saran wrap hung from a tree, and all of it is gone even the wrapping, no traces of wrap in tatters or scraps found anywhere).

My husband works out of town for two weeks, and home for one… if this was a bear wouldn’t it come around while he was home? We baited the area and the whole time he was home, nothing, except for the night before he had to leave, that is when we discovered a bite in the elk meat.

Also when a bear bites into food, does he tear it? These are clearly bite marks with no tear, it’s a clean bite… again, no scat in the area, we can’t tell which direction it comes and goes from.

My dog has alerted us to something in the yard all times of the day…

A few days ago, I went out to observe the area, and a bite was taken out of a chicken breast, I took pictures of the area, and had to come back about ten minutes later because after checking the digital camera, the foot print was blurry… I came back outside, and clearly the chicken was flipped over… I took more pics but again came outside for a third time, and the chicken was gone! What animal does this. I mean I saw nothing smelled nothing, and heard nothing…

your thoughts would be appreciated as to any bear encounters or experiences you may have had. My neighbours say we are dealing with a bear, but with what I saw with my own eyes, and what my husband and I have experienced( heard and evidence seen and gathered and smelled) I am not sure if we are dealing with a bear, or a bear and … I’ll leave it at that. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
