A new good friend of mine has inspired me to writ the

following.Enjoy and share if you want; If you give the man the fish he will feed himself for a day, If you show the man how to fish he will feed himself for a lifetime. What does this Quote mean to you? And are you one that tends to look for a quick fix to your problems? We all have done that but to have that kind of mindset for everything ,I think we are just setting ourselves up for disappointment and staying stuck where we are like rowing and rowing our boats while the rope is still tied to the post. All the struggling for nothing, wasting precious time and effort which could otherwise be used for more important things .So if you have this attitude of ‘A Quick Fix’or ‘A one time Cure All’ Who is to blame? We can blame it on society or our all time favorite ‘our parents’,but blame will only pass the problem along .The more important question is ‘How do we adapt to this mentality’? so It won’t be passed down to our generations. What worked for me,(even though it was already planted in me at a young age)was to try and apply it in everyday things by just being aware and seeing things in long term, knowing that it will fullfill and sustain to carry us through to the next issue that comes along….Thank you for listening .(And If your wondering, I did write this one .lol

I’m with smoknbowl here, you give someone something valuable, then thats a good thing for them. But it would be better to give them the knowledge of how to attain this valuable item themselves, enforces self reliance.

Well done a good post, im glad of the LOL bit though i need to take credit for the first bit. Looks like we are working together already!!! Seems you got the job!!!

Ill explain how i read this.( Using money just as an example) Lottery winners go broke, money makers dont. Lottery winners have not been taught how to make and keep money, thats why they didnt have it in the ist place and eventually spend it all. money makers have been taught how to make and keep money. Its all in the mindset.

This is again why arranged marriages are said to fail as the groom is given the Bride (or fish in this case) as apposed to being shown how to win love. As its the case that to get love one needs to give love the groom will never recieve love because he never gave any.
Trust that makes sense

LOL,-Oh, it makes perfect sense ,to me anyway.Love is something I had to learn literally from books and when Recieving, believing Gods’ Love. Not so long ago I might add. It’s the first thing on my Profile too ‘It is possible to give without loving, but it is impossible to love without giving.
-Richard Braunstein The lottery tickets too.My mother was a gambler in pulltabs and slots. She died with virtually nothing but guilt that she couldn’t leave me anything. But it’s okay,I learned so much from it that I won’t let it happen to my family.

Unfotunately a quick fix is what a great deal of society wants, hence psychiatry. Fix my anger and let the world outside of me continue to get angry, make me blind so the world can continue to fight and kill so I don’t have to see it, miracle pills to lost weight, etc, etc, etc. God’s love? I have yet to find it. Something I need help with, or the creator whatever you want to call it.

Wow, it may not be a poem but it was just as beautiful in that it shows an understanding of the human condition that is uncommon. You are more intelligent than you know. You actually understand this, most just repeat a version of what they were told. This goes beyond that.

“like rowing and rowing our boats while the rope is still tied to the post. All the struggling for nothing, wasting precious time and effort which could otherwise be used for more important things”

Gold. Sometimes “try harder” isn’t the solution.

If you get thrown by the horse, maybe its a good idea to stay off that horse till you can ride a little better, or maybe look at getting a better saddle … and helmet.

Our nation, our world is full of using band-aid solutions(with a band-aid the injury is actually healed with time not the bandage). In the military they are quick to give you painkillers and tell you to drive on (causing a more sever injury in the process), because you are numb to it doesn’t mean the injury isn’t there. There are people who get gastric bypass and gain the weight right back and so on, so many examples. Who is to blame for this mentality? It is the individuals that think this way, because lack of personal growth and weak mentalities. Everyone is responsible, and have the ability to choose their response to situations.
