religiously confused…

.

when people ask me about that, i tell them i believe in myself, and dont have time to believe in anything else.

i believe the bible was made to keep people on track, have them believe in something and fear doing anything bad because they would go to hell.

almost like a law,

i think it would have been anarchy a long time ago if it wasnt for the bible. imagine how it would be without it..

i do believe in karma, and luck, i was born friday the 13th

theres this priest that i always question, and he finally said ‘alright fine, say there isnt a god, but wouldnt you hate to be wrong if you died and ended up being wrong??’

and it hit me, what if they’re wrong? then what would happen huh…

i dont know if im asking for help in this post or not..decide for yourself

I often fluxuate on this. Usually in times of peace and solidarity in my life I try to reason with myself on this. However, in times like now, when I feel my knees buckle under the weight on my shoulder, I pray to whoevers there to help me. Maybe that makes me a hypocrit, but when i need help, if i’m in trouble or desperate for advice or guidance, I’ll turn to whoever I can, whether its an all knowing all powerful person I don’t know is there, or a group of 300 strangers on the internet with only experience to guide them.

You “don’t have time” to believe in anything else.

Wow, you must be really busy.

Study. The more you learn about the global history of faith the easier it will be to find your place. Your ideas on Christianity are a good start but there is more than meets the eye. Take the time to learn more and decide for yourself.

Look at it this way. Do you honestly believe, that if there is a god who put us on this earth, which he created along side the rest of the universe, the he would want us to devote our entire lives back to him? What would be the point? If he does exist, I doubt he would want that. He gave us lives and unique abilities. Not to be wasted sitting in a building built as his house and praying to him. He would want us to live a life of happiness. Do you really believe a ‘perfect being’ would judge us on whether we believed in something that was not proven? Think about it.

I’m not religious either. I celebrate Christmas and Easter with my family because they are Catholic but I myself do not believe. I don’t connect spiritually with any religion even though I went to church and mass as a child. If you were meant to believe it will come to you, you can’t find it, I learned that the hard way.

Well, you cannot use human standards or intellect to define God. That’s the first mistake people make. You cannot use human logic to determine God’s will. And, no, Anon, there’s not going to be a “theological pop quiz” before you can get into heaven! It IS important to acknowledge God and worship Him, because we will otherwise end up worshipping someone or something else.

A woman with your beauty must also have a moral compass. God loves you even if you don’t think so. Put others first, it has always helped me.

Well i guess god has given us enough intellect to distinguish between the truth and the otherwise. Some people are more intelligent, more successful , more beautiful etc, but he has given everyone the same ability to love. since you believe in karma , i would like to say that as in genesis by the lord’s grace one can come out from all these sufferings etc and the only way to that is by uncoditional love towards others and the lord….and if you believe that the bible is just a book of laws, there is no day of judgement, there is no god and all that atheist stuff you probably know of something called probability and the probability of humans forming from the elements is close to zero (think about it). There have always been many people like doubting thomas and you know what happens to them…of course you might be thinking something has changed in the bible and if all that did happen do you reckon that jesus leaves you if you love him?whatever might have happened to the bible the essence remains the same ” Love thy lord” , love the humanity and try to help others.

And by the lord’s grace everyone experiences some paranormal event at some point of thier life…

If he is beyond humanity’s perception, then whats the point of making any theories about who or what is god? Might just be a big purple Hippo eating planets cause hes hungry.

Reverend Twitch, it sounds to me that you want to firmly believe in something, but don’t know what it is. I would suggest that you pick up a book called Mere Christianity. It was written by C.S. Lewis; the same guy who wrote The Chronicles of Narnia. It is short so it is a fast read; only about 150 pages I think. I will be praying for you.

Fortunately, we had the very Son of God visit us in human form and tell us what was expected of us. Unfortunately, some churches have chosen to “add to” Jesus’ teachings, so that He wouldn’t recognize them as his own today.

Hey I think your right about a couple of things like the fact that mankind have just twisted the bible to keep people from doing bad things so they are to afraid to go to hell. I don’t think that was God’s original purpose matter of fact the bible doesn’t speak of a firey tormenty place. And as far as when you spoke to that preacher and he said “ok God doesn’t exist” it sounds like he needs a new profession.
