I just want to go to sleep!

I have pretty bad eczema all over my body. It got better while I was away at uni, but now I’m home and the hard water and cats I am allergic to have made it awful! I’m dry and red and scabby. I cut my nails every day but I sill seem to cause myself damage in my sleep. I always try and sleep wrapped up in a jumper, somewhere with the least amount of fur or dust. Sleeping at my boyfriend’s (David) is generally much better as they only have a dog who doesn’t make me itch at all. I wanted to go there today but couldn’t even find the energy to dress myself because…

On top of this I have an awful cold, not quite a flu but it might as well be! I have so much to f******** do tomorrow and I can barely stand up. I’m so tired, I can’t lay down because of my chest and my nose keeps running even though it feels blocked. As soon as I get into a slightly comfy position and start drifting off, I either sneeze or get an itch in some awkward place on my back.

I just want to cancel tomorrow but I have to go meet David after his audition then I’ve got a driving lesson and a barbeque and I’m supposed to go running with Alice… I just hate letting people down! I can cancel things that only involve me but if I cancel everything tomorrow it inconveniences everyone else. I know I’m unreliable and I hate it so I’ve been trying to change, but now this. I feel so awful, I just want to sleep!

I suppose, rather selfishly, I just posted this for a rant because no one can make my cold go away! I’m literally crying my eyes out because I get worked up over silly things. Oh why must sneezing hurt so much?

That sounds rough. I think you should cancel and not feel guilty. and try not to live with the cats. maybe there’s a water filter or water treatment which would help with the hard water.

Thanks, I think I’ll cancel barbeque and running, I don’t need to do those things and I think it’s gonna rain anyway. I’ll feel bad for missing running, but it’s not like I’m enjoying free breathing right now.
I’ve heard there is something that can be installed that turns hard water into soft, but if we do get that I doubt it will be for a while, my Dad died in May so our house is a bit upside at the moment anyway.

Just read the post about your husband - I hope you and your son are ok. I hope the two of you can get away form time to time, even just going for a long walk or going to the cinema.

Jeez I hope I can sleep soon. I hate having a runny nose.

My six-year old daughter has had eczema since she was born. She uses a prescription medication called Elidel. It’s a cream that I rub all over her. I also use a lot of Aveeno products. I see that you don’t live in the USA so I am not sure if they have Aveeno where you are at but it really works wonders. There are Aveeno creams, lotions, oatmeal baths, soaps, etc. You should see a dermatologist and see if you can get a prescription like Elidel or something similar for Eczema. Also, if you are allergic to cats, whoever you live with should understand and find another place for the cats to live. Also, I use the laundry detergent called “Dreft”, it doesn’t have any dyes or fragrances. I don’t know if they have that where you live either but you should be able to find a laundry detergent without dyes or fragrances. I’ve had dry skin all my life and then with my daughter having Eczema, we have learned to deal with finding products without any additional dyes or perfumes. Please see a dermatologist first though to get some professional advice. My daughter hates having Eczema and all the itching all the time and dry, red, patching skin but I try my best to give her as much relief as possible. Good luck!

Benadryl should help you sleep and chill the itching but don’t take it with too much cold meds as they may interact. Call a free nurse helpline or a local pharmacy and check.

i had a bf in college with bad eczema. He used eucerin and it really worked. Look for AQUAPHOR (sp?) It’s made by them but heavy and free of anything that will irritate you.

You are going to have to rehome your kitties. I know it’s terrible, but it’s best for everyone. Is there someone you know who would love them that you could visit?

Then buy a used rainbow vacume. You can find a used one somewhere though it will be a hunt. They use water to filter the air and nothing escapes although they’re expensive and sometimes hard to find. Check e-bay and vacume repair shops.

You know about the water. Good luck!
