On-line and off-line help: I have a router (Linksys) and at times the icon doesn’t appear in the systray or Network Connections window although I am still online. - Help.com

I have a router (Linksys) and at times the icon doesn’t appear in the systray or Network Connections window although I am still online.

When this happens, my connection seems to be slower (50% slower). Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?
