I had recently had bought a samsung 40′ 1080p flat panel lcd hdtv.

i hooked up my laptop via S video cable. when i switch to s video the display from my desktop shows up bright and crisp as i expected, but about a half inch on top and bottom are black and the right and left side are also black but it is a bout a inch. is there something i can do to make the display show up in all of my screen.

Try going to the t.v.’s menu. I had the same issue with my 47 aquos and in the menu there should be somewhere you can move around the screen.

I have a booklet with mine, starting page seventeen, my english model (differs from USA.)
Title is “Configuring Detailed Settings on the picture.”

This explains the way to set the picture to your screen size requirements.
