Locks of Love
I assume you all know I have long hair. I say that I ‘assume’, because, seeing as you’re all able to read this, you all must have eyes, thus you must have seen at least one of the pictures I’ve had as my avi over the last year or so. Anyway. Some time ago, when I was off in that mythical land of Reality I seem to get chucked in so often, I decided, on little more than a whim, that I would donate my hair to Locks of Love. For those who don’t know, Locks of Love is an organization that makes wigs for kids with cancer. Sure, I could sell my hair and make a nice chunk of change, but I put myself in the position of some kid who had long hair, got cancer, and then lost it all to chemotherapy, and I know they’d get more value out of it than I would, and they deserve it a hell of a lot more than I do. I know it’s not a cure or anything, but it’s something I can do, so why shouldn’t I? Yes, I know I’ll miss it, but mine will grow back, and even if it takes another two years to get it back to this length, I’d do it all again, just to help someone else.
Maybe I’m crazy, I don’t know… but I’m going to do it soon, lest the Arizona Summer Dayball of Doom burn it all off my head on my way in to work tomorrow. Either way, I’ll be posting links to before and after pictures so you can all either:
A. Point and laugh at the bald dragon,
B. Pretend to think I’m doing something good, whilst laughing at the bald dragon, or
C. Help me figure out what to do with any remaining hair I wind up with.
(Please note that choices A and B come with a side helping of crispy, torturous destruction at the hands of said dragon.)
Yours, as always,
A soon-to-be-less-adorable, yet far more (insert term here) Xeno Dragon
(Oh, well. It would all be vaporized in Hell when I get there anyway…)

Big Respect points from me :D
What you’re doing is beautiful. More beautiful even than that hair atop your dome.
I think it is a good idea, I don’t know what exactly you need help with as you seem to have already made your mind up to do this.
You have a wide range of hairstyles to choose from all depending how much hair you donate.
good for the kids. when i was 9 i cut like 18″ off my hair and my mom plaited and saved it. when i turned 30, i cut off about 14″ and my mom sent me the original 18 (the weirdo!) so i sent both clumps to locks of love and it made me feel really good. anyway, when you look in the mirror and freak out, just remember the importance of what you’re doing & the difference it will make in someone’s life. and, like you said, you can always grow it back… something one of the kids may not be able to do :[
im already laughing at you man, im already laughing. oh, good decision btw.
yeh-that’s awesome. i grow my hair really long, then i cut down really short. i do this constantly. idk-i hate keeping my hair in the same style too long! anyway i always donate my hair, it seems like only a small gesture. but ya know-it makes you feel really good.and it’s not a small gesture because what else could you do for those children, if you don’t have money to donate, you don’t have time(or don’t live close enough) to actually visit the children’s hospitals to try and cheer them up, what else could you do? donate your hair! so that’s cool of you-but…i think you should not go bald, leave some hair to style some way!
my respects to the xeno , am amazed by ur sacrifice , i know how much , long hair sometime mean to ppl , am so happy that you are making this donation and so happy to see you do the right things and stuff , sometimes we know what is the right thing but we are afraid to act upon it ,fear of many things… so you ask if you are crazy , no ur not , the world is crazy , you are the normal one , most ppl are wrong…
about ur choices well this is my quote and this is what i think “If my face represents me than it’s a bad representation,, my words are who i would be , my work is who I’m …”…
well am sorry to tell ya if you have hopes in going to hell , u are clearly arent going to hell , God looks to the heart of the person , and ur heart is gold…
my best wishes
~Serge
Very food of you :) I’m considering cutting my hair REALLY short too… maybe only 3-4″ long. My hair is almost at my butt. We’ll see; I’m too chicken to do it in the near future.
I think the best part of shaving your head would be that you get to see your scalp in it’s pale entirety. It’s the only part of the outside of my body that I’ve never seen. Good luck and post those pics!
Grrr…
good idea. i was going to do the same thing. if anyone tries to make fun of you, the jokes on them. especially when they get the cancer.
love the idea xeno, Im sure you’ll come up with something good to do with your hair, youre cute anyways so It’ll still look good.
Glad to hear you’re following in my footsteps. :-P
Well, to be honest, as a person who doesn’t have a whole lot of hair left after donating it there’s not terribly much you can do with it. If you do have any hair left you can always do what I went for which was just a buzz cut with a pair of clippers to even everything out.
It’ll be easy and low maintenance.

Impressive and very brave of you. I actually think you will look good with shorter hair, it will show off that hansome face of yours, but finding it really difficult to picture you with anything like a flat-top.
I think its a good idea, I did that when I was younger and at first I was scared then I felt really good after I did it.
They even send you a little pink post card type certificate saying you donated your hair.
think its an awesome idea to donate your hair to the kiddies who dont have this luxury :) I dont think I will laugh coz you are doing some thing really cool and very honorable :)
You could go completely bald - it’s just about the only way you can still get people to look at you and think you are a satanist or worse, without having long hair. You could make some evangelising christians feel really foolish when they ask you why you’d choose to look like that.. little to feel righteously shocked over in this story!
Wow. I didn’t expect so many people to care so much. Thanks for supporting this.
Thought about this post while doing something I needed to fix. Whatever you chose, I will stand by you along with the rest of us. Just be sure it is what you really want. Pheonix can be horridly hot, been there twice, but I will trust you to do as you have always done - think.
Just do not do it for the wrongs reasons, like trying to “punish” yourself. You have been through a lot and your empathy runs high, likely now. =will never laugh either way.

WOw, and I’m sorry for the spelling BS. I’m in a hardcore mess.
I think its a great idea, and you have a great attitide about it!
ALL HAIL THE DRAGON!!! If cutting your hair will make you more comfortable in the Arizona sun, who are we to say no?
oh, and if you get it like shaved off, remember to sunscreen your head. TRUST ME.

Sweet! Thats awesome! I did this a few years back too, ya know… Take it from a guy with experience! Leave an inch of hair or even 2! We long hairs burn rather easily up there…
And you MUST tell us the donate-able length! Can you beat mine!? That would be impressive…
This is why I cut mine. I think I donated some odd amount of inches, but I have no clue. It was just too **** hot….
DRAGON:
As a Cancer patient, I came up with a thought for yu….if you are going to cut your hair, why not donate it to tha American Cancer Society? They will use it to create wigs/hairpieces for people in chemo and not charge the patients who otherwise could not afford such luxuries.
Wear a Guy Fawkes mask ALL THE TIME. The hair on those is kinda like your pre-donation hair, nobody will notice.
Hotdog, that’s what I’m planning. I don’t want anyone to have to pay for my hair, I see it as a gift to someone who really needs it.
Believe me, cancer patients will appreciate your donation. When I went through chemo and lost my hair, I was fortunate to have the resources to “buy” hair but many can’t afford to do that. I donated my hair piece to the American Cancer Society as it will do for others what it did for me.
I suspect what so many of us are saying is that we like Xeno the person, not his hair. I merely wonder what prompted this and I am concerned.
You and Snow still coming down to LA this wee while I am here?
I brought you a present…
I wish we could, Sully, but I don’t think we’re going to have the funds. Money is tight, as rent, utilities, groceries, and gas have just been paid all at the same time, and I don’t get paid until the end of this week so I just don’t see how it could work. I’m talking to Snow right now, and we both agree that there’s nothing we’d rather do, but we just can’t. I hope we can try this again in a few months, once everything is a bit more stable.
Nikko, nothing really prompted it, I just thought of it one day, and realized that I had something to give, so I decided to give it.
If things go well, I will not be around here for a very long time… Unfortunately, things are not going well currently at all. I will know more later today. I will have to show you a pic of the knife I was going to give you… It may go to someone else now. I do not want to take it to China.
