friends help: After recently splitting up with my girlfriend im trying to rebuild my life but i dont know where to start. - Help.com

After recently splitting up with my girlfriend im trying to rebuild my life but i dont know where to start.

All my friends i knew have recently uprooted and moved to various cities around the country and i don’t really get to see them anymore. I currently don’t have a full time job so i find myself at home alot.

Im in the Territorial Army/ Reservists/ National Guard (depending on which country your from) and im thinking of going to Afganistan. But should I go ASAP to get out of my rut i seem to be in or should i try to sort my own life out first?

Just wondering what your thoughts are on this.

I reckon you should probably sort out your life first. Probably search around to see if you can get a job first. However, if you do get a job I doubt you would be able to go to Afghanistan as well. I aren’t sure about that though. How long would you be in Afghanistan for?

erm in total about 10 months. Im just wondering if in those 10 months i can think about where my life is going. Life would be so much easier if you could pause it for thinking time lol.

I agree it would. Well in that case I guess going there wouldn’t be a bad idea after all. I’m contradicting myself here, sorry. I guess if you did go to Afghanistan then you would be able to concentrate on your life and decide what you want to do. I think 10 months is enough time. I hope it goes well for you.

Yeah i’ve started thinking that. Im just not sure how to break this loop i seem to be in with myself. But your right, leaving the country to distract myself won’t make the thoughts so away.

i think you should sort out your life FIRST. if you go to afghanastan, you may not come back. i don’t mean to say it like that but that is the reality of war. i don’t think you should run away from your life. if you want to run away, go on vacation, don’t run away to war!

also, no matter where you go, you always bring yourself! so you have to get your thoughts and feelings together before you do anything
