For people form the USA. Chav is the UK equivalent of “white trash”. Well something like that anyway. According to Wikipedia “Chav (pronounced /ʧæv/) also Charv/Charver (pronounced /ʧɑːv/) are mainly derogatory slang terms in the United Kingdom for a stereotype fixated on low quality or counterfeit goods. It commonly refers to those belonging to a youth sub-culture, often stereotypically associated with a low socio-economic class, a striking dress sense and criminal activity.”

“Chav” is just a label that people use so they can stereotype people. Ignore people that use such stereotypes.

If you wear all McKenzie sweatshirts and Abercrombie t-shirts and very white trainers and worst of all anything Burberry pattern. Call people Bruv, Mate or ***** even though you are white and so are they. You would also listen to R ‘n’ B, Hip Hop and would have them as ringtones on your phone. If you do any of those things and your girlfriend wears big gold earrings and talks like she belongs on the Rikki lake show - You are a chav - Mas

Sorry but hwere I’m from that is a chav - I know I walk past them in town, they steal bicycles as well and rarely go to school, and use have chlymidia as they sleep with any underage girl they can find. You dont want to be called a chav. At least Emo’s are individual, even New Stylin’ is a bit different but Chav’s are sheep.

Your not a chav.Just because you wear trackie bottoms doesn’t mean your a chav.I personally like trackie bottoms because they are comfy and i wear them around the house and outside sometimes.You getting named as a chav should be determined through your actions not for what you wear.It really shows how stupid these people are if they are calling you a chav because what they are doing is sterotyping you.If you feel comfortable in what you are wearing then don’t change because of what other people say.Just be yourself
