Sounds like somebody wants to sell you spyware! Don’t buy it. Somebody put a worm in your computer to make you buy computer defender. Just have somebody do a sweep with a virus protector. You probably already have it on your computer. Look for system defender and have somebody do a sweep. Talk to Commander Ikari he knows a lot about this.

I highly recomend Ad-Aware Spybot Search and destroy,Comodo Firewall, and AVG FREE, If the computer telling you in the bottom tray that you have a “system aleart” then it is most likely some kind of smit fraud and you simply need to run Ad-Aware and it should get it for you… The combination of these four services (all free) are deadly and I have not run across something I have not been able to get rid of. Make sure you check your Add/Remove Programs list to made sure that this is not a “toolbar” related problem. Delete toolbars that you do not use and then after running the selected anti-virus equitment defrag and do a disk clean up..

If it’s spyware that’s the problem, I completely recommend what the others said. AVG, Spybot search and destroy, comodo Firewall, and not using IE.

try deleting your cookies after each browsing session, often that’s how they can also get in.

Oh, and never ever ever download an antivirus that you just see in some ad, or you have never heard of. Stick with those, or download them from download.com, or pcworld.com

It tells you it will fix the problem when you start up? Never heard of any program doing it like that.

have you tried AVG yet?

Wait till it’s all done, then it will ask you if you want to fix all the problems it’s found.

If it’s running slowly, try defragmenting your hard drive.

and clear your cookies in IE.

hmm, try opening up process manager and closing it. Or just restart and try it again.

Try to run the defragmentor again, that could help.

Close some unnecessary processes.
