Love help: I love to play the game Sims 2. - Help.com

I love to play the game Sims 2.

I just got a new laptop, also. I’ve taken a few days to download the Sims 2 onto my laptop. I’ve been downloading only a few of my expansion packs a day…to make sure I have enough space. But now I see people posting everywhere else how it’s taking up all their memory.

I don’t know much about computers…here’s what I know about my laptop. If you need to know something, I could probably find out something for you.

It’s a Gateway notebook Model 1625. It has 2 GB of memory. I think I still have the box it came in if you need to know anything else.

I just would like to know that if I download ALL the expansion packs, would it crash my laptop? Would I still have some memory? I’m also a writer, so I need space for my documents and such.

Thanks,
Elyak

Another thing I forgot to tell you — the operating system on my laptop is Vista. Everybody has also been saying how Vista is a memory consumer. Thanks again, Elyak.

I’m just worried because people are complaining that they don’t have enough space for their sims when they have 3 GB. I only have 2 GB .. and this is a brand new computer. I need it to last a while …

okay just to write a litle message, i think when you say 2gb, being that this is also a new laptop, is actually a lot different then you hardrive which is hte memory part that will hold your game, your hardrive should have around possibly 80gb, 160gb, or something like that. your laptop should warn you (normally by a message on bottom right) saying wheter your computer is too full, and files will need to be deleted, or expansion packs uninstalled, as much as i know, although it may be a huge game, it should still fit within the laptop as written documents are normally fairly small in size and being a new latop possible got lots of hardrive space, unless you have many other things installed as well. hope this helps

Thanks SO much Eitherrideordi!

And thanks for helping, alone in the dark. Honestly, I never really thought of erasing things. [x

Eitherrideordi, I’m going to go see if I still have the box it came in. If I do, I’ll see if there’s the hardrive thingy. As you can notice, I’m not THAT good with computers. (:

I just checked!!

Hardrive has 250 GB. Pretty nice. So I have nothing to worry about?
What’s the difference between 2 GB of memory and 250 GB on the hardrive?

haha, really? thats good, thats a fair bit, infact bigger then my computer haha. umm well you can always delete what you dont need. but i would say no, you should have no problem at all, any if you do just uninstall some. haha umm 2gb is whats is called your memory or RAM, its like to run programs off of not really saved onto, it runs faster then your hardrive to make your game run better. a hardrvie is wehre all your things are saved in, like your game, your documents etc. http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/… this stie kinda explains it too haha. i hope that helps

haha, thanks thanks, lol well i hope what i said is right, as far as i know you cant explode a laptop by doing things in it, you can crash it, make it not work haha but i dnt think explode, unless you had bad power points haha. hope everything works fine lol have fun. oh yeah if memory or ram is too low like your 2gb, it would make your game slow down or glitchy, or freeze up dat just means the game needs a better computer, but seeing what your running everything should be all fine thansk heaps

I have all the expansion packs installed (apart from one or two) and my laptop has plenty of space and runs at the same speed- the only problem I’ve had is that the sims itself runs slow, but I am looking for a solution to that.
